The Wilds is located in the north central part of Pennsylvania and includes Warren, McKean, Potter, Tioga, Forest, Clarion, Jefferson, Elk, Clearfield, Cameron, and part of Lycoming and Centre counties. Within this region, there are 27 state parks, six of which are on the 20 must-see state parks list, and 1.3 million acres of state forest.

Cook Forest State Park
Enjoy a hike along the 30 miles of trail networks, some of which go through the old- growth forest. Stand among the 180-foot tall white pines and hemlocks admiring this National Natural Landmark. If you like more physical activity, we'll set you up on a canoe trip down the beautiful Clarion River. Don't forget to set a little time aside for an educational program on the old-growth forest. Clear Creek State Park
This beautiful park is located along the Clarion River. One of the most popular activities is the 11-mile canoe trip down to Cook Forest. You can spend the day exploring the majestic Clear Creek State Forest via your car, with information stops that show the history and ecology of the area. After a stay at this campground, you will certainly understand why it was ranked as one the Best Tent Camping spots in Pennsylvania. View Campground Map.

Parker Dam State Park
A real treasure in the Pennsylvania state park system. This historic park located in the Moshannon State Forest offers fishing, boating, and swimming in its lake. The park campground was ranked among one of the Best Tent Camping spots in Pennsylvania. This is the ideal area for a day hike. CCS offers day hikes along the Quehanna Trail, a designated state forest trail, beginning at Parker Dam. With some luck, you may even spot an elk or two in their own backyard. View Campground Map.

S.B. Elliott State Park
This rustic state park is located right off of Interstate 80 at the highest point on the interstate east of the Mississippi. This park is a case study in forest recovery with a huge tree farm. The park has long been considered the gateway to the Wilds and a Gateway Center and Lodge are in the planning. View Campground Map.
